History
Track and Field is the original Olympic sport dating back to
776 BC. Through time, the popularity has spread and many new events have been added to this category. Track and Field is also referred to the
Athletics, mainly in the Olympics.
Olympic Rules
Measuring - "All measurements shall be made with a calibrated certified steel tape or bar or with a scientific measuring device"
Simultaneous Entries - If a person is going to take part in multiple track and field events that take place at the same time a referee may move the time of the trials.
Playing field
- Running track - 400 meters
- For the High Jump, the run way must be at least 15 meters
- The landing zone for high jump is
5m long x 3m wide
- In the
horizontal jump, the run way must be at least 40 meters with a landing area of 2.75m to 3m
